Are Democrats in trouble?

Several conservative groups are happily pointing out that the Democrats have quite a challenge before them. Citizens for a Sound Economy says the Democrats are reaching "for the 1992 election playbook" by returning to the economy issue. The Weekly Standard points out that this tactic is futile because the Democrats can't agree on an economic agenda. NCPA's Bruce Bartlett echoes this sentiment in a recent Townhall column.

In other piece, Bartlett claims that the Dems wrongly "assumed that they would do well in this year's elections because, historically, the party occupying the White House loses heavily in the first off-year elections after taking control." (cLog)
